Through a generous donation of $1.5 million to Palm Beach Atlantic University, Ray Titus has made it possible for the university to include franchise-specific education in their business program. The Titus Center for Franchising is where students can study the specifics of franchise investments to give them a well-rounded business education.

Titus is the founder and CEO of Accurate Franchising, Inc.’s parent company, Starpoint Brands. He is excited to reach more young people who may be interested in the franchise industry and hopes that this investment will encourage other industry players to get involved. “[The center is] going to be working with them in every different facet [of franchising],” Titus explained, going on to say that two of the 17 enrolled students are already talking about owning a master license or their own franchise.

The gift to the university, which is the biggest charitable donation Titus has ever made, is his way of giving back to his community and the greater franchise industry. “We work really hard, we have great lives,” he says, “and when it’s all said and done … my pastor says we don’t have to give, we get to give, and I agree with him.”

The Titus Center for Franchising gives students several options to get educated on franchising. They have the opportunity to get a degree in business with a concentration in franchising, or they can go through a certificate program to prepare them to invest in a franchise. There are additional intern and job shadowing programs for students to get firsthand practice.

The Center, which was dedicated in a ceremony on November 15, 2017, includes classes on an array of topics relating to franchising, including:

  • How to buy a franchise
  • How to franchise a business
  • Franchise marketing and sales
  • Franchise operations
  • Franchise field support
  • International franchise expansion
  • Master franchisee development
  • Many more

In addition to coursework, students will be able to learn from internships within UFG’s global headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida. Beyond that, he is hoping that other major players in the franchise industry will also get involved with similar initiatives to improve franchise education and further the industry.
